Old and Very Rare Ajahn Jumnien Seelasettho Collector's Amulet
Wat Mahathat in Nakhon Si Thammarat
We visit the Wat Tham Seua temple often because it is fairly close to our home in Krabi, Thailand. We see all they have on display and we ask other monks if they know of any nice amulets that might be for rent (sale). So we find some good ones. Then occasionally we'll see something far back on a shelf, maybe it fell out of the box or other display container it was in... and we strike gold. Finding this amulet was like striking gold. This was one of the first amulets released by Ajahn Jumnien's temple, and we have never seen another like it anywhere. It is as least twenty years old - a monk at the temple told us. Exactly how old, I don't know. I would like to ask Ajahn Jumnien when he returns, but I think this amulet will be purchased before then.
The front of this amulet features Ajahn Jumnien sitting in his saffron colored monk robe with a gold circular aura behind his head which is actually a smaller Dharma wheel than the one on the reverse side. Ajahn Jumnien's likeness is created with smooth gold lines, really masterful as it's a minimalist approach to creating his image. The background is black. Phra Jumnien's flowing robe appears to go on beyond the confines of the bottom of the amulet. The body of the amulet - the base, is stainless steel. On top of that is what I think is 14K gold highlights. The front of the amulet says, in Thai language in the robe area in gold, Phra Jumnien. There is a small eyelet for a necklace which someone has apparently worn for a number of years.
The reverse side of this rare amulet features a larger red Dharma wheel on a bright gold background. This is covered with a coating of resin, which, protects the Dharma wheel red and structure perfectly. The reverse side at the top says in Thai, "Tum Sua" or as is usually spelled, "Tham Seua" which means Tiger Cave (reversed for Thai). At the bottom of the reverse side of the amulet it says, "J. Krabi" - as in Jangwat Krabi. Meaning, the town of Krabi, Thailand.
All of Ajahn Jumnien's amulets are considered excellent for good luck, health, and protection. Ideal gift for someone that knows who Ajahn Jumnien is, and for someone who would like a keepsake that likely will not be found again. A must have amulet for any serious collector of Ajahn Jumnien Seelasettho's amulets. This amulet is authentic, we purchased it directly from nuns at Wat Tham Seua Theravada Buddhist Temple in Krabi Noi, Krabi province, Thailand.
