We recently found two of these rare Jatukam Ramathep pendants at our local Wat Tham Seua Buddhist temple in Krabi, Thailand.
These Jatukams are unique for a couple of features. The first is that the Rahu, the Hindu demon that is seen in most Jatukam pendants swallowing the moon, is arranged alternately in and out in a circle around the Jatukam figure on the front of the amulet. Usually they are arranged chin-in.
The other difference is the very unique lotus shaped case holding the amulet.
The abbot of this temple, Phra Ajarn Jumnien, was granted permission to create Jatukam Amulets and made just a few. This one and the maroon one seen below are all that remains. There are no more for sale at the temple and there haven’t been for years.
The reverse side shows some holy Pali characters, the Chinese zodiac symbols, and star configurations arranged into a sacred yant.
