Ganesh (sometimes
called Ganesha), the elephant, is a Hindu god that is
the son of Shiva. Ganesh is the god of obstacles, both placing
obstacles and removing them. Hindus and many Buddhists believe
that they should ask for Ganesha's favor before attempting to do
anything where an obstacle could be present. They ask Ganesh to
remove all obstacles and make the experience easy and painless.
Some ask before they attempt to do anything.
In addition to
removing obstacles from the path of people, Ganesh also places
obstacles in front of people so they can learn something that
will make them better people.
Ganesh is a
beloved god and very popular in Thailand, India and other
Buddhist nations.
