Hindu God - Ganesh - Buddhist Amulets
Ganesh is
the Hindu god of decisions and action. He was created by Shiva the destroyer as
a way to appease Parvati - his wife. Shiva first killed a boy Parvati had
created to block anyone from seeing her bathing. Shiva, enraged - killed Ganesh.
Parvati was upset, so Shiva found the head of a great elephant to put on the
boy's shoulders instead. Parvati was still upset so Shiva declared that all
people will pray to Ganesh before they do anything - in order to have their plan
go as they wished. Many Hindus say a prayer to Ganesh before they do anything at
all - and definitely before they proceed with something important.
